This project took place in a reverberant cylindrical stairwell in the Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Building at the Banff Center. The viola strung across the stairwell with elastics and fishing twine becomes a resonating body for the supporting strings, turning the surrounding reverberant space into a temporary instrument.
The sculptural elements are papier-mâché fortune cookies filled with found items: keys, clock parts, marbles and maple keys. The fortune cookies were broken open during the performance to release these objects, resulting in a sound event, which echoed in the reverberant space as the performer interpreted it.
