Augmented 5th

Based on an interest in the tonality of everyday materials, concrete floor tiles are tuned like percussion instruments, exploring the possibility of generating music and deliberate sound from mundane architectural materials.

How do the sounds of everyday objects, spaces and bodies shape our experience? What potential do acoustic materials have to change our behavior or perception of a space? What could be more unmusical than a slab of concrete? And yet, when sound is considered and the tiles are detailed to behave like musical instruments, they sing.
