Folding Motif

 / schematic design / studio UBC architecture / 2012

This interior was designed for the renovation of a basement hallway in the University of British Columbia Student Union Building. It is based on a folding plywood motif that is applied to table-chair sets and ceiling panels. The design requirements for the project stipulated the use of plywood in some part of the design intervention and resolution of the appropriate connections and construction methods. The hall is located near an often overcrowded student-run food co-op, suggesting a focus on the design of multi-functional seating.
